How to join the DOPE family

Spoiler: it's easier than you think. And cooler than any corporate internship.

Fill out the form (2 min, zero stress)

Tell us: who you are, what you study, what excites you (drones? AI? Rockets? Business? Communication?), and why you want to join.

Come to the info meeting

Within 5 days we invite you to an info session. Meet the team. See the labs. Ask all the silly questions you want.

Pick your project (or projects)

Check out the 9 active projects and pick the one that makes your eyes light up. Not sure? Try several in the first 2 months.

Start building (no pressure)

Join the project channel. Attend meetings (usually 1h/week). You get a first task at your level (even if you know nothing, we'll guide you).

Ok but... (the questions everyone asks)

YES. Absolutely yes. About 1 in 3 members join with no prior tech experience. We teach you. We pair you up. We give you tasks at your level and you grow gradually. The key is being curious and not being afraid to ask "stupid" questions. Stupid questions are the coolest ones.
Yes. Many start during tough exam periods and contribute a few hours a week. During exams, you slow down or pause — that's normal and expected. Come back when you can. Uni comes first, always.
You leave without issues. Write in the group "Hey guys, not for me, thanks anyway" and goodbye. Zero drama. Zero guilt.
Sometimes yes, but because we WANT to, not because we have to. If tomorrow there's a rocket test and we want to finish firmware → someone stays in the lab late. But nobody forces you. The difference? Here if you stay late it's because you're having fun.
No. Zero. DOPE is a non-profit student association. Labs, tools, materials, competitions — all covered by university funds, sponsors, and funded projects.
ABSOLUTELY YES. We actually WANT you. We desperately need students in Economics, Communication, Management, and Design. The best projects are born when engineers, physicists, economists, and communicators work together.
Yes, and it's one of the best things to put there. Instead of "I took a Python course" you write: "Firmware Developer at DOPE Hubs — Team ranked 6th worldwide UAS Challenge 2025". Recruiters love this stuff.
